I have heard about free online dating sites, but since I am married it was something I never really paid attention to.

But a few months back, my best friend who's been divorced for the past 3 years, decided to start living again and felt that free online dating could work for her.

She registered in a few sites and started making new friends. I confess I wasn't too sure of what to expect, and I was worried for her. I didn't want to see her hurt. She has had enough pain to last a lifetime. So I told her to be cautious and not to expect too much.

I have heard some not so good stories about free online dating and being a person that needs to really meet and know someone in person as opposed to online, I felt that it probably wasn't the best way to find someone.

Maybe I am a bit old school. Or maybe I just am a very cautious person. Or both, but I didn't really believe that anything would come out of that. But my friend felt it was for her and continued in her search while keeping me informed of all that was happening with her online dating.

At first things didn't look so good. Some of the men wanting different things from what she was looking for, some were not that compatible with her and some just didn't interest her in any way.

However after meeting a few not so good matches, she did find a wonderful and sweet man that has become the best thing in her life. I was not so sure at the beginning, but as the time passed I have to agree that they are really great with each other and that they do care deeply about each other.

They are the most interesting and caring couple I have see in a long time and are making plans to get married some time next year.

Maybe I was wrong about free online dating, or maybe I was just behind times and not considering all the option, but seeing how well it worked with her I am now a believer.

They have a beautiful relationship and proved to me that online dating can actually work. Maybe not all the stories have such a happy ending, but that is true in life, regardles of how someone met that special someone.

It brings me joy to see my friend so happy and with someone that really cares for her and I will not be so negative about online dating again.

That's the beauty of life, love is always around and it's great to find it in any way that we can look for it.
