My Adult Thoughts

My daughter who is only 15 years old has been actively dating boys for almost a year and it is driving me crazy. Ever since she was a baby I knew that when she became a teenager I was going to be in for a lot of trouble. She was always such an adorable child but as soon as she turned 13 that cuteness turned into beauty and when that happened it seemed like all hell broke lose. At first shedidn'tnotice that she was causing such a crazy effect on boys and men but slowly as more people began to tell her how pretty she was she began to change. She began to want to wear make up and though I fought that as best as I could in the end she won that battle, with the make up thesituationbecame even worse because now she looked a lot older and then even older men were looking at her.

Right after the make up came the dating without permission, by the time I found out about it she had had a fling with several boys in her class and I immediately put a stop to it. It didn't last for long though and soon after I decided it was best to allow her to date rather than her having to go and do it behind my back. That way I can at least attempt to supervise her as best I can and hopefully keep her out of trouble. I wish she could just stick to dating these boys but I have a really bad feeling that she might already be sexually active so all I can do is try to guide her as best as I can.

I have talked to her about the birds and the bees, I have explained how it's best to wait to have sex till she meets her soul mate or falls in love. I have also told her that it's okay to see different boys and that dating is not bad but that she has to take care of herself and not get any diseases or god forbid pregnant. It's a tough time for my family having to go through this with her at such a young age but we are going to have to stick it out and be patient. It's a new world out there and kids have so much freedom so all we can do is take care of her and get her into adulthood where hopefully she will make wiser decisions.
